Almost all down duvets on the Danish market are washable at 60° C in a normal washing machine, but always remember to look at the washing instructions, just in case.
The best advice for prolonging the service life of your down duvets and pillows is to ensure that they are dried thoroughly. One handy tip is to place two or three tennis balls in your tumble drier before starting the machine. The tennis balls will help spread the down evenly throughout the duvet during the drying process. To ensure that your duvets and pillows last for many years, it is a good idea to wash your duvet at least annually and your pillow a minimum of twice a year. The times when you switch from your winter to your summer duvet and back again may be convenient opportunities for washing. Of course, if you are allergic to dust mites or have pets that sleep in your bed, you should wash the products a bit more frequently.
Wash down duvets in a 7 kg or larger washing machine at 60o C. Let the duvets go through the entire spin cycle, then dry them in a tumble drier at 80—90o C. Tumble drying can take 3—4 hours, but if you let the duvets get the time they need, you will be pleased with the results. Every so often during the drying process, take the duvets out of the machine and give them a little shake. You can wash down pillows in a normal 5 kg washing machine.
Wash all down products with an enzyme-free detergent.
