How does silver work?
Answer: When silver is present, bacteria lose their ability to divide! One bacterium can divide and turn into two bacteria every 20 minutes. This means that one bacterium can become a million bacteria in just six hours!
When dividing, first a “partition” appears down through the bacterium. The bacterium then breaks in the middle and becomes two new bacteria. High levels of humidity, an oxygen supply and the temperature all help to promote ideal conditions for bacteria.
The critical temperature range for the majority of bacteria is 20-40 °C; bacteria grow at the fastest rate within this range. When we sleep, the temperature of our quilt is often within this range. The silver means that the bacteria lose the ability to divide, so bacterial growth is impeded.

Will my allergy go away completely when I use Silver Luxwell?
Answer:There are lots of different types of allergy. People are most commonly allergic to house dust mites, and this is the kind of allergy that Silver Luxwell products can restrict. In other words, your allergy will not go away, but the external influences in your bedroom will be limited. The silver prevents bacterial growth in your quilt and pillow, thereby greatly reducing the source of food for house dust mites. As a result, they will find it much harder to live in these products.
Does the product retain its effect?
Answer:The effect of Silver Luxwell has been tested by leading institutes, and there have been no changes to the effect of the product even after many washes.
How many times can I wash my quilt and pillow?
Answer: Silver Luxwell products do not need to be washed as frequently as general quilts and pillows thanks to their antibacterial effect, so of course their life is extended. We have performed various wash tests and found that the effect of the silver in Silver Luxwell products is not affected by the washing process.
Do I need to wash my quilt and pillow?
Answer: You do not need to wash them, but if they are soiled they can, of course, be washed without washing away the silver or reducing the amount of it present and thereby removing or reducing the antibacterial effect.
Will all odours vanish from my quilt and pillow?
Answer: Silver Luxwell restricts fungal growth, mould and other harmful organisms in your quilt and pillow, and so Silver Luxwell prevents the development of unpleasant odours – including perspiration odour – in your quilt and pillow.
Can I use this quilt and pillow at my summer cottage or in my caravan?
Answer: Silver Luxwell® prevents your products from becoming damp-stained in summer cottages, caravans and damp storage areas, for instance.
Can I leave my quilt and pillow in my caravan over the winter?
Answer: Silver Luxwell prevents your products from becoming damp-stained in summer cottages, caravans and damp storage areas, for instance. However, it is important to point out that you should take the bedlinen off the products if you are going to be storing them for a long time. We cannot advise you to store the products with bedlinen on as your bedlinen will not have been treated with Silver Luxwell®.
Can I prevent mould fungus and the odour of mould?
Answer: Mould fungus grows on surfaces which have been damp for any length of time. It is not possible to prevent damp from occurring in your bedlinen, but insufficient airing, failure to dry quilts and pillows every day and low temperatures in the bedroom may cause major problems with mould. Silver Luxwell®restricts the development of mould fungus and thereby prevents the odour of mould and fustiness.
What is it?
